About Me

Reach Out Wants You!
Your talents are needed to assist youth ages 9 to 17. As a mentor you will be a role model and a friend to a young person who is facing a difficult time in life. Reach Out provides monthly outing to fun places throughout the area at no charge to the mentors or mentees. We request that you spend 4-8 hours a month with your mentee, which can include the time spent on outings, talking on the phone, shopping, getting a bite to eat, or doing whatever you and your mentee find fun and interesting.

You will be provided with training, a resource person for support and organized activities—Reach Out will always be there to assist. A background check will be conducted to ensure the safety of all participants. We request that you commit to a minimum of one year as a mentor. Many of our mentors love the experience so much, that they come back each year and follow their mentees through high school and beyond.

Interests

BE A CORPORATION OF MENTORS
Developing a Culture of Mentoring in your Corporate Workplace:
Corporations can develop a culture of mentoring that truly makes a difference in kids’ lives and inspire employees as well. A mentoring program is appropriate for corporations wishing to get involved or improve existing community outreach efforts.
The Reach Out Youth Mentoring Program targets “at risk” youth in the west end of San Bernardino County. Our mission is to join together with community, organizations, private industry and schools to provide stable and caring mentors for young people.
We are looking for corporations to develop mentoring teams as a part of their community outreach efforts. Teams will consist of two to five individuals willing to volunteer a minimum of four to eight hours a month to a deserving young person. This can include time spent on outings, talking on the phone, shopping, getting a bite to eat, or whatever you and your mentee find fun and interesting.
Mentoring Teams:
Mentoring teams can consist of either males or females eighteen years or older. Each mentor will receive training and the opportunity to attend monthly outings at no cost to the mentor or mentee. A background check will be conducted to ensure the safety of all participants. Reach Out will pay for all background checks.
Benefits of Corporate Mentoring Teams:
When companies get involved in mentoring the benefits occur on four levels.
 Improves community involvement,
 Teamwork,
 Develops Leadership and company morale.
Mentors are able to improve their portfolios showing their outstanding community involvement. Many companies find that a solid volunteerism program can be an important employee recruitment and retention tool. The program fosters team spirit and allows people to get to know their colleagues outside of the workplace. The program also increases morale, as the company supports employees striving to make a difference in the lives of youth.
Corporate Images:
Reach Out would like to spotlight those organizations willing to participate in mentoring by hanging a banner or offering to place advertisement that will also highlight their efforts. This gives the organization the opportunity to have free advertisement and potentially increase business.

This is a call to all men who have had someone make a difference in their lives. This is a call to all men who have had someone to turn to in their times of struggle and pain. This is a call to all men who want to stop the cycle of abuse, violence and neglect. As you work together, your combined efforts with a child can transform lives and create friendships that will last a lifetime. Men this is your time! This is your chance to take action and give our boys a chance to live strong, healthy, and happy lives.

The Reach Out Mentoring Program is in dire need of male volunteers. As the current economic downfall has affected our society, families are now faced with more hardships and strife. As a result, our children have fallen behind and are often left to fend for themselves. Now more than ever, we need you to stand up for our youth and give them the resources they deserve to ensure the quality of their lives and success in their futures. We need men who are willing to join the fight against a cycle of violence and neglect that perpetuates the struggle of our young boys. Our teens are facing an uphill battle; with schools losing funding and programs closing their doors, there are few places left that will provide our youth with a safe place to learn and develop into successful citizens. Men, please join us and make a difference, be a mentor today.
