La mia storia:
Nell'anno 1872, il nove del mese di Ottobre, un colonello dell'esercito peruviano, il Sig Domenica Ayarza, ebbe la felice idea di convocare gli italiani residenti in questa località, per consegnare una pompa braccia contro gli incendi che il governo gli aveva affidato, affinché mediante un concorso si formasse una compagnia di Pompieri Volontari.

Tutti gli italiani di Chorrillos risposero rapidamente alla chiamata ed il risultato non si fece attendere, la compagnia fu fondata il 13 di ottobre del 1872.

Questo è stato l'uomo che rispondendo alla chiamata del Governo, convocava gli italiani residenti in Chorrillos per consegnare una pompa a braccia contro gli incendi, che doveva servire da base per la compagnia completa che in breve sarebbe stata costituita e che avrebbe preso il nome di Garibaldi, in omaggio alla figura dell'eroico condottiero delle campagne sostenute per l'unità italiana.

Creata la Compagnia, i componenti procedettero a scegliere la prima Giunta Direttiva alla cui testa si mise un uomo intraprendente, artista per vocazione, onesto, che amava Chorrillos e con un brillante stato di servizio prestato nelle campagne per l'indipendenza italiana: Don Ulderico Tenderini.

Queste le basi su cui sorse la Compagnia le cui attività ed i lavori continuarono in forma infaticabile, superando ogni ostacolo che potesse presentarsi, fino a che venne la fatidica Guerra del Pacifico ad oscurare tutto.

Questi i fatti accaduti nei giorni del 13 e 14 Gennaio del 1881, Chorrillos fu duramente colpita dai bombardamenti, ovunque c'erano crolli ed incendi. I Pompieri della Garibaldi, accorsero veloci a combattere il fuoco, ma le autorità di occupazione che non capivano nulla dei principi umanitari annichilirono gli sforzi della Compagnia.

La Compagnia italiana dei Pompieri Garibaldi perse tutto il suo materiale e tredici dei suoi membri furono fucilati nel luogo dove compivano il loro dovere, era il 13 gennaio 1881.

Furono Adolfo Sánchez, Polo Menéndez e José Donaire coloro che recuperarono tra le macerie i resti dei nostri compatrioti. Da ricodare per sempre i nomi dei martiri che furono:

En el año 1872, a los nueve días del mes de Octubre, un coronel del ejercito peruano, el Sr. Domingo Ayarza, tuvo la feliz idea de convocar a los italianos residentes en esta localidad, para hacerles entrega de una bomba a brazos contra incendios, que el gobierno le había remitido, para que mediante un concurso se formara una compañía de Bomberos Voluntarios.

Todos los italianos de chorrillos respondieron presurosos a la llamada y el resultado no se hizo esperar fundándose la compañía un día del 13 de octubre de 1872.

Tal era el hombre que acudiendo a la llamada del Gobierno, convocaba a los italianos residentes en chorrillos para entregarles una bomba a brazos contra incendio, la cual había de servir de base para el equipo completo, con que en breve contaría la institución, que tomaba el nombre de Garibaldi, en homenaje al ínclito soldado veterano indiscutible de las campañas sostenidas por la unidad italiana.

En funciones la Bomba, sus componentes procedieron a elegir la primera Junta Directiva, a cuyo frente se puso un hombre emprendedor, artista de vocación, honrado a carta cabal, de fortuna, con verdadero cariño a chorrillos y todo lo que el pudiera relacionarse, y con una hoja de servicios brillante, prestados en las campañas por la independencia de Italia: Don Ulderico Tenderini .
Tal fue la iniciación de las labores de la Bomba, que continuaron en forma infatigable, salvando cuánto obstáculo pudiera presentarse, hasta que vino la fatídica Guerra del pacífico a ensombrecerlo todo.

Por eso, cuando el 13 y 14 de Enero de 1881, chorrillos quedó convertido en un hacinamiento de escombros y cenizas. Los Bomberos de la Garibaldi, acudieron presurosos a combatir el fuego, pero las autoridades de ocupación que no entendían nada de principios humanitarios aniquilaron el poder de respuesta bomberil de la Compañía.

Es así como compañía italiana de bomberos Garibaldi perdió todo su material y fueron fusilados trece de sus miembros en el puesto de deber el 13 de enero de 1881 y fueron Adolfo Sánchez, Polo Menéndez y José Donaire los que desterraron de los escombros y muladares los despojos de nuestros compatriotas,habrá de recodar siempre los nombres de los mártires que fueron:
